Jeffrey Schwab counsels clients on all aspects of both domestic and international intellectual property issues for major corporations, entrepreneurs and as well as startups.

He currently limits his practice to advisory and transactional counseling , incorporating the experience gained as the first chair in numerous IP litigations throughout the United States in which he has successfully obtained multi- million dollar awards and settlements and successfully defended clients.

He serves as an arbitrator and mediator and has been a guest lecturer on issues related to intellectual property matters at universities and law schools andhas authored a number of published articles on intellectual property issues and alternative dispute resolution.

He is a coauthor of Patent Litigation in Germany, Japan and the United States -A Practitioner’s Guide Pitz and Kawada and Schwab (1’1 and 2nd editions 2015,2021) C. H. Beck.

Having a career in which he has acted both in house for a major international company and as outside counsel, he has a depth of understanding of the interface between legal and business objectives and the budgetary perspectives and constraints that need to be addressed in evaluating pragmatic approaches to legal issues and the decision making process.

Among his more recent activities, he has guided a Swiss entity through its first significant patent licensing transaction; counselled a startup in establishing an intellectual property portfolio and trade secret protocols; guided a foundation representing the works of a famous illustrator in obtaining proper recognition and royalties; provided an opinion of counsel to a public company regarding its IP portfolio in support of its financing efforts; guided a privately held medical device company in negotiating a major distribution and IP licensing transaction with a collaborative venture with 2 publicly traded companies; represented a foreign entity in successfully resisting an attempt to subpoena its records; counselled a beauty aid business in rebranding; and on a regular basis in providing perspectives and guidance to foreign businesses and IP firms about protecting, enforcing and defending intellectual property rights.
