Matthew A. Fox joined Amster, Rothstein & Ebenstein LLP as an associate in 2003 after working at the firm as a summer associate and patent agent during the preceding year while still attending law school as an evening division student. His practice includes client counseling, litigation and licensing of intellectual property concerning a variety of technologies including automated processing systems, plastic technology, mechanical systems, medical art devices, wireless communication protocols, plasma display devices and other consumer electronic devices.

During 2006-2008, Mr. Fox was in-house patent counsel for Panasonic Corporation in Japan.  In this role, Mr. Fox provided legal advice and patent analysis concerning technologies such as plasma display panels, television receivers, digital cameras, digital camcorders, optical disc products, semiconductor lighting systems, dry batteries, ventilation systems, electrical protection systems, bar code scanners, portable computing systems, communication encoding/decoding methods, wireless systems and solid state memory devices.  In addition, Mr. Fox negotiated and drafted license agreements, including perpetual and term license agreements, concerning worldwide patent rights.

Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Mr. Fox worked as a project manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in which he managed the remediation activities at several hazardous waste (Superfund) sites and assisted counsel in prosecuting cases against the alleged polluters under CERCLA. Mr. Fox also worked as an analyst for American International Group where he was responsible for resolving lawsuits arising from chemical exposures such as asbestos, lead and toxic mold.

Mr. Fox's undergraduate education and experience prior to his professional career required him to rely on his broad technical understanding of mechanical systems, chemical systems and material sciences which he continues to utilize in a variety of technology fields as a patent attorney. He received his B.S., in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida in 1998 and his J.D., from New York Law School in 2003.

Mr. Fox is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to the New York State Bar. He is also admitted to practice before the United District Courts for the Southern District of New York and Eastern District of New York.
